3 iced matcha latte recipes to try all summer long

Maxime Besnier
3 recettes de matcha latté glacé à refaire tout l’été
There are drinks you have because you’re thirsty. And then there are those you prepare because they make the day a little brighter. The iced matcha latte definitely falls into the second category.
A glass full of ice, a layer of cold milk, a luminous green slowly settling on top: it’s simple, but it changes everything. It’s the kind of drink that accompanies a quiet morning, a work-from-home session, a sunny stroll, or an afternoon with friends.
The base is always the same: good matcha, a little water, milk, and ice. Then, you can get creative. Here are three easy recipes to make with your Arigato Matcha Ceremonial Matcha, or with our vanilla matcha with natural flavors and no added sugar.

The Base: How to Make a Perfect Iced Matcha Latte Every Time

Before we get to the variations, remember one key step: always mix the matcha with a little water before adding it to the milk and ice. This will prevent lumps and result in a much smoother drink.
For a large glass, use about 1 to 1.5 g of matcha, or one level teaspoon. Mix it with 30 to 60 ml of hot, non-boiling water, around 70 to 80 °C. You can also use room temperature water if you prefer a very quick and 100% iced method .
Then pour cold milk over ice cubes, and gently add your matcha concentrate. You can mix immediately, or keep the layers separate for a few seconds for visual appeal.

1. The Classic Iced Matcha Latte: Simple, Creamy, Always a Good Idea

This is the basic version, the one you'll want to make again and again. It really highlights the matcha without adding too much to it. If you're new to matcha, start here.
In a small bowl, sift one level teaspoon of Ceremonial Matcha. Add 40 ml of hot, non-boiling water and whisk until smooth. A chasen is ideal, but a milk frother works perfectly.
Fill a large glass with ice, pour 180 ml of cold oat milk, then gently add the matcha. Oat milk works particularly well for its sweetness and naturally creamy texture, but soy, almond, coconut, or regular milk also work .
You can add a drizzle of maple syrup if you like a sweeter note. But with a smooth, well-prepared Ceremonial Matcha, it's not essential.
The mood: a bright morning, a calm playlist, and the feeling of doing better than a takeaway coffee.

2. The Strawberry Matcha Latte: The Most "Current Cafe" Version

The strawberry matcha latte is everywhere for a reason: the combination really works. Strawberry brings fruity sweetness and a pretty pink color, while matcha keeps it fresh, vegetal, and balanced. It's delicious, visually appealing, and much easier to make than it looks.
Start by mashing 4 to 5 ripe strawberries at the bottom of your glass. For a smoother texture, you can blend them with a teaspoon of maple syrup. Then add a handful of ice cubes and 150 ml of cold milk.
In a separate bowl, mix one level teaspoon of Ceremonial Matcha with 40 ml of hot, non-boiling water. Gently pour the matcha over the milk: the pink, white, and green layers will create a beautiful visual effect.
Stir just before drinking. The result is fresh, creamy, and unique enough to replace your weekend coffee shop stop.

Arigato Tip: Use very ripe strawberries. They provide more flavor, which means you won't need to add too much sugar.

3. The Vanilla-Maple Iced Matcha Latte: The Most Comforting

This version is perfect when you want an iced matcha latte that stays fresh but with a softer, more enveloping touch. Our vanilla matcha contains natural vanilla flavors, with no added sugar. So it already brings a warm note to your drink.
Fill a glass with ice. Pour 180 ml of oat milk, then add half a teaspoon of maple syrup. In a small bowl, mix one level teaspoon of Arigato Matcha vanilla matcha with 40 ml of hot, non-boiling water. Pour over the milk and admire the layers before stirring.
Vanilla, maple, and oat create a rich and indulgent texture, while the matcha maintains a vegetal freshness that prevents the drink from being too heavy. It's the perfect glass for an afternoon of work, a reading break, or brunch in Montreal.
The mood: an iced coffee, but in a greener, softer, and much more photogenic version.

What Milk to Choose for Your Iced Matcha Latte?

There's no single answer. The best milk is the one you genuinely enjoy drinking. But each option brings a different personality to your iced matcha latte.
Milk
What it brings to the recipe
Oat Milk
Creamy texture and sweet taste, a great match for matcha.
Soy Milk
Denser body and easy-to-work foam.
Almond Milk
Lighter profile, with a subtly nutty note.
Coconut Milk
More tropical flavor and gourmet texture.
Classic Milk
Sweet and round taste, very simple for beginners.
Feel free to experiment with several versions. Matcha is a very personal drink: your favorite milk can completely change the result.

The three details that make all the difference

The first: use non-boiling water. Water that is too hot can accentuate the bitterness of matcha. Simply let your kettle rest for a few minutes after boiling if you don't have a temperature setting .
The second: don't pour the powder directly into cold milk. It will tend to form small lumps. Take the time to dilute it with a little water first.
The third: don't skimp on the ice cubes. Iced matcha latte is best when it stays truly fresh from the first to the last sip.

Your new signature drink

Iced matcha latte doesn't have to be complicated or reserved for coffee shops. With quality powder, a few ingredients you already have at home, and two minutes, you can create a drink that reflects you.
